Taking It Slowly

Taking It Slowly

GET TO KNOW YOUR PARTNER BEFORE YOU GET INTIMATE

Is online dating helping people have healthier relationships?

According to a recent study in the Social Science Research Journal, dating is most effective when daters spend time getting to know each other, before getting intimate.

What does online dating do? It adds an extra step in the "GETTING TO KNOW YOU" process. By interacting with someone online, you get to know them better before meeting in person. First you peruse profiles, then perhaps you exchange an email or two and maybe next you chat online. Face to face contact happens later in the game, once you are comfortable with each other. By the time the two of you have become intimate, both parties are well informed of each other. By knowing each other more thoroughly, you are likely to have a more successful intimate relationship. Thus, dating online makes for a healthier relationship!

Face it, you'll never get drunk and go home with a profile, like you might on a nervous first date. Dating online forces people to take things at a reasonable pace.
